The bracket is attached directly into your ceiling joist using (3) "3" lag screws. Our downrod is attached to the bracket using 3 additional bolts. This connection is solid and prevents the unit from swaying.

Above is one of the other garage system bracket and downrod design.
One nut and bolt holds each downrod from the ceiling mounted rail. The rail runs away from the downrod and attaches to the joist, thus the unit is not directly attached to the joist. This design allows the unit to easily sway and is not an attactive installation.
